In Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals series, the Los Angeles Lakers managed to defeat the Golden State Warriors 117-112, though it was a close call for the Lakers. The Lakers started strong in the second half, but the Warriors managed to make a comeback in the final minutes of the game. A 14-0 run over almost five minutes, capped by 3-pointers from Jordan Poole and Stephen Curry, brought the Warriors back within range. However, Curry's final 3-pointer was the last bucket for Golden State, and the Lakers held on to their five-point lead.

The first half was a close battle, with Davis leading the Lakers to a one-point lead at halftime with 23 of his 30 points. Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 18 points in the first half, and the team made 13 3-pointers in the first 24 minutes, compared to the Lakers' 1 of 8 from behind the arc.

The Lakers briefly separated in the third quarter, thanks to a 13-3 run, but the Warriors fought back, and a spectacular Gary Payton II dunk over James energized the team. However, the Lakers were able to maintain their lead, thanks to their impressive free-throw shooting. The Warriors attempted only five shots from the stripe, while the Lakers made 21 of their 23 free-throw attempts after three quarters.

Curry led the Warriors with 27 points, Thompson finished with 25 points, and Poole added 21 points off the bench. Davis had a superb night, and LeBron James contributed 22 points and 11 rebounds. Dennis Schröder and D'Angelo Russell added 19 points each off the bench for the Lakers. The team shot almost 47% from the field and made 25 free throws.

The Lakers have now won 15 of their last 19 games, and Game 2 of the series is set for Thursday night in San Francisco.
