Jets' Aaron Rodgers Returns to Practice After Achilles Injury: Potential Comeback in December

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is set to return to practice in a limited capacity, marking a significant step in his recovery from a ruptured left Achilles tendon suffered in the season opener against the Bills. Head Coach Robert Saleh emphasized that this return to practice is a part of Rodgers' rehabilitation progression rather than immediate readiness to play.

Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, underwent surgery on September 14 after the Achilles injury during the early moments of the season. Reports suggest a potential mid-December return, with the Jets having until December 20 to activate him. Saleh clarified that while Rodgers has been cleared for functional football activities, a full return to playing football is yet to be cleared.

The quarterback, known for his prolific passing career primarily with the Green Bay Packers, could rejoin the Jets' lineup in Week 16 against the Commanders if the team utilizes the entire practice window before activation. Rodgers has been proactive in his rehab, pushing boundaries with innovative surgery and aiming for a swifter recovery.

In addition to Rodgers, the Jets have opened the practice window for special teams captain Justin Hardee and offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer. Hardee, recovering from a hamstring injury, is a Pro Bowl gunner with significant special teams contributions. Schweitzer, who sustained a calf injury, adds depth to the offensive line with his versatile playing history. Their return windows will also be monitored over the coming weeks.
