Ja Morant Faces Suspension Again After Flashing a Gun On Instagram Live
Memphis Grizzlies' talented guard, Ja Morant, finds himself once again in trouble as he has been suspended from team activities following the circulation of an Instagram Live video on social media. The video appears to show Morant flashing a gun while in a vehicle with others. This incident comes just two months after Morant faced a suspension for a similar video.
The Grizzlies made the announcement on Twitter, stating that Morant is suspended from all team activities until further notice, pending review by the league. The team refrained from providing additional comments regarding the matter.

Back in March, the NBA suspended Morant for eight games without pay due to "conduct detrimental to the league" after another Instagram Live video emerged, showing him holding a gun at a nightclub in Glendale, Colorado. It is important to note that the investigation did not establish that the gun belonged to Morant or that he brought it into the nightclub. Furthermore, there was no evidence indicating that Morant had the gun while traveling with the team or in any NBA facility. Consequently, Glendale police did not press charges against him.
Following the incident in Denver, Morant had a meeting with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, during which they engaged in an open discussion. Silver, in a statement, expressed his concern over Morant's behavior, stating that it was irresponsible, reckless, and potentially dangerous. Recognizing the young player's influence, particularly among his young fans, Silver emphasized the seriousness of the consequences.
Morant demonstrated sincere remorse and contrition for his actions during the meeting with Silver. The commissioner's statement acknowledged that Morant expressed a commitment to learning from the incident and understanding his responsibilities to the Memphis Grizzlies and the broader NBA community extend beyond the basketball court.
Subsequently, Morant publicly apologized, addressing reporters and acknowledging his ban. He shared that he sought counseling to better manage stress and vowed to be more responsible in the future. Morant attributed the incident, at least in part, to the challenges of dealing with stress and highlighted his efforts to cope with it in healthier ways.

Born in South Carolina and a product of Murray State University, Morant was drafted by the Grizzlies in the 2019 NBA draft.
